    Article summary

You've run a statement on eddy.app and want to ensure you've assigned all the appropriate sales to your artists. Naturally, you'll want to compare the amounts reported to you by your distributor to the statements generated through eddy.app.

To draw accurate conclusions, you need to effectively compile and match data from your distributor with the corresponding sales records in eddy.app. The following instructions will guide you in identifying and aligning the relevant datasets from your distributor's platform with those in eddy.app, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate comparison.

Compare Realized Income vs Reported Revenue

Accurate comparison of your realized income (revenues from your distributor) with the reported statement amount in eddy.app requires analyzing complete and relevant datasets.

    1. All Relevant Sales Reports are Imported and Complete

Confirm that all relevant sales reports from distributors are fully imported into eddy.app. Check each report's status, ensuring they're marked as "done." This verification is key to ensuring you're working with complete data. Using our filter section you can also quickly verify if the total value imported matches the money recevied for the period from your distirbutor.

    Pro-tip

Utilize the grid view in the Sales Imports section to check report statuses. Employ the list view filter to sum-up net received for specific periods and royalty sources.

    2. Check total sales value matches insights

Verify that the totals in your Sales Index and Global Insights are consistent. In cases where Imported Sales and Global Insights don’t align (as Global Insights are updated post import completion), compare the total amounts without filters. If discrepancies are found, click the "Re-sync insights" button to rectify them.

    Pre-Comparison Checklist:

    • All relevant reports imported and marked as "done."
    • Net received matches income received from distributor.
    • Sales Index total matches Global Insights total.
    • Insights filtered by reporting period and source match realized income.

    Compare Artist and/or Content Revenue

Always Scope Insights by Reporting Period

For accurate sales tracking, utilize the reporting period filter. This ensures alignment with your distributor's reporting periods, maintaining consistency in your data.

    Analyze a specific artist

After confirming the checklist items, you can be confident that Scoped total revenue, Distributor statement total, and Sales imports total are equivalent. Next, assess whether the income reported by your distributor for each artist or content (release, track, video, and/or merch) corresponds with the values in the eddy.app statements.

If there's a mismatch, filter your insights by artist (rather than specific content) to view all sales related to them. This reduces the risk of missing sales, which can happen when using exact content filters.

Navigate to your Insights section and apply filters for reporting period, royalty source, and artist. If the sales displayed match your distributor's reported revenue, any discrepancy might be due to exclusions in your contract or the statement period. For further investigation into mismatches, consult the revenue missing from statement article.
